Yankees Rally Late to Take Series from Twins

The Yankees entered the day one game under .500 and needing a victory to once again pull even for the season at 34-34.  Trailing 4-0 in the 7th, Alex Rodriguez blasted his 8th home run of the year and was followed an inning later by yet another 2-run home run from Carlos Beltran, his 18th of the season.

In the 9th inning, the Yankees used a pair of  walks, a drag bunt base hit from Didi, and a bases-loaded single by Jacoby Ellsbury to take a 6-4 lead.  A sac fly by Gardner pushed the score to 7-4.

Aroldis Chapman, who had not allowed a home run since August 31 of 2015 to Addison Russell, allowed back to back home runs in the 9th inning to cut the lead to 7-6, before inducing a game-ending ground out and wiggle out of trouble.

The Yankees play one more in Minnesota and then return home to play Colorado and Minnesota in the Bronx.  Nathan Eovaldi (6-3) will take the hill in the fourth game of the set, looking to rebound from three successive poor outings on the heels of five great ones.
