Luis Severino Appears to Have Benefited from AAA Stint

Earlier this year, Luis Severino was arguably the worst pitcher on the worst pitching staff in Major League Baseball.

This is what his first seven starts looked like:

5 innings, 10 hits, 3 runs, 5 K (Loss)

5.2 innings, 8 hits, 4 runs, 2 K (Loss)

6 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 4 K (ND)

3 innings, 7 hits, 6 runs, 1 K (Loss)

6 innings, 5 hits, 4 runs, 4 K (Loss)

6.2 innings, 5 hits, 4 runs, 9 K, (Loss)

2.2 innings, 7 hits, 7 runs, 2 K (Loss)

That’s about as bad as it gets.  0-6, 7.46 ERA.  Somehow he made Hideki Irabu look like Bob Gibson.

But since a 10-start stint in AAA, Severino has been outstanding pitching out of the Yankee bullpen.

8.1 innings, 1 hit, 0 ER, 3 bb, 10 K.

Time to get him back in the rotation.
