Despite Their Struggles, Yanks Should Stick with Kids

Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin broke onto the scene in dramatic fashion with back-to-back home runs.  Austin has basically gone dormant since, and Judge has begun to struggle.  The Yankees must resist the urge to sit them on the bench in the hopes of a Wild Card.

Not only will it be useful for these kids to get at-bats in meaningful games against teams that are desperately trying to win by exploiting their weaknesses, but they also will get to experience a pennant race for themselves – something that proved beneficial to Jeter, Rivera, and Andy Pettitte.

Judge and Austin are better hitters than they have shown so far, but it is up to them to counter the adjustments that have already been made by the league’s pitchers.
